It started as an idea back in the 80’s when the Pontiac Fiero first came out. Use the drive train from a front wheel drive car to build a “poor mans” mid-engine sports car. In the case of the Fiero, GM used the drive train from the Chevy Citation located behind a Chevy Chevette front end to create a small, inexpensive, mid-engine sport compact. This car project uses the same principle except all components are significantly larger.
As the name suggests, the MonteRODo uses the drive train of a Cadillac Eldorado located behind the front end of a Chevy Monte Carlo. The result was a unique mid-engine sports car. Some features that come free with this hybrid include: four wheel power disc brakes, power steering, independent suspension front and rear, full perimeter steel frame, automatic transmission and a 8.2 liter (500 ci)V8 engine.
